Xbox Series X to be unveiled online after E3 cancellation - MW

Microsoft will unveil its Xbox Series X console at an online event in June after it has been confirmed that the big E3 game conference has been canceled.

The launch is considered a key part of the annual Los Angeles conference, attracting 65,000 visitors each year and broadcasting press events to millions of people around the world. On Wednesday, the organizer of the Electronic Entertainment Association announced on its website that E3 2020 would not take place due to coronavirus problems.

Microsoft plans to reveal key details for its next console at the annual E3 show - which may include price, release date, and release titles. Shortly after the announcement, Xbox chief Phil Spencer tweeted that the announcements would take place as part of the Xbox digital event.

The answer to cancellation in the industry is largely approval and understanding, with statements of support from Nintendo, Microsoft and Ubisoft.

The relevance of the event has been questioned in recent years, after Sony, Microsoft and Electronic Arts have all pulled out of the show, preferring to promote through their own events and online streams. But as a way to focus global attention on the gaming industry, E3 has proven invaluable, and EA and Microsoft have organized satellite events, which take place next to the Los Angeles conference center.

Announcement after the cancellation of the Game Development Conference, scheduled for next week in San Francisco. As it stands, GamesCom, the largest introductory game in Europe, will continue in Cologne in late August.
