How to Make a Tequila Sunrise - MW

0 hours 5 mins
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. tequila
3 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tsp. grenadine

Shake tequila and orange juice well with cracked ice.

Add grenadine and stir gently, for no longer than is necessary to produce layers of oranges and reds. Garnish with a maraschino cherry (optional).

Using the full cheese with your cocktail order won't be in vogue during the days of amaro and perennial whiskey and low ABV options. But for those who like it, we welcome you. With Tequila Sunrises, naturally. This classic combo of tequila, orange juice and grenadine is awesome, awesome. Its OJ-to-tequila ratio confirms it is a morning drink not a daring wild drink but more daring than a screwdriver and a light-colored screen block enough to ensure oohs and aahs. Like the sun rising over the Gulf of Mexico on a particularly beautiful morning.

The tequila sunrises you're familiar with is probably served on the rocks in a tall Collins glass, which is a good fit if you're using OJ purchased at the store. But if you can get the juice out of some oranges, put it in a cocktail, something lighter, fresh without having to swallow it in the melted water, and the red ribbon will be more vivid.
