More than 12m players watch Travis Scott concert in Fortnite - MW
A live music event of the year may just take place, unaffected by global locking - and in a video game. On Thursday, American rapper Travis Scott performed a live set inside the online shooter Fortnite and more than 12 million players took part in the scene. Many others are expected to watch over streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
The large audience for the show defeated the previous Fortnite music event, an in-game performance of electronic dance music artist Marshmello in February 2019, which attracted more than 10 million viewers. The next concerts will take place on Friday and Saturday.
Fortnite developer Epic Games announced the event, dubbed Astronomical, earlier this week. For the opening performance on Thursday, Fans were instructed to enter the game at 6.30pm EST (12am BST) to secure a place on the game servers before starting at 7pm. . The 10-minute performance, which received positive reviews from players on social media, ended with a new track, The Scotts, featuring rapper Kid Cudi. Fans can also collect Scott related skins for their own characters, and even use fiery microphones during the event, a reference to a photo of Scott's concert. Much remembered.
