Favourite hidden spots in Europe: readers’ travel tips - MW

Victory Tip: On the Road to Nature, Portugal
My friend and I want to go for a winter walk in sunny weather. We find the hiking trail GR15 in the east of the Algarve from Vila Real de Santo Antonio on the coast to Alcoutim along the Guadiana river. There are also smaller routes than the GR15. Absolutely beautiful and pristine. We stayed at Almada DóOuro at Casa Da Paz - a beautiful B&B with river views and only a two bedroom suite (from £ 70). We had one room each. An excellent breakfast with fruit, ham, cheese and eggs is included. A fire in the evening. A great host.

Lapland paradise, Sweden

If you are torn between an adventure in Lapland but need your ski repair, Luleå in the north of Sweden offers the best of both worlds. Stay close to the frozen Baltic for snowshoeing, reindeer and Northern Lights trips, then take an hour's drive to the small Storklinten ski resort. This is where the locals spend a weekend of downhill or cross-country skiing, have lunch around a bonfire and enjoy perfect snow and empty and opulent pistes.
Reward yourself for a night at the Tree Hotel or the resort in one of the elegant cabins in the forest (Bear Lodge is suitable for families).

The drunk lounge bar, Gozo, Malta

Means small rooms of Muslims in Malta, Gebuba, both the Tardis cave and the Aladdin cave. Somehow, your charming host, Govann, has squeezed more than 500 international beers and spirits, tons of spirits and a large collection of wines into a space no bigger than the middle lounge. pot. Malta's sister island, Gozo, isn't exactly endowed with gorgeous lodges, so if you're in the mood for an epic and fluid adventure after a hard day at the beach, there really is only one where to go. Head to San Pietru u San Paul square in the village of Nadur, opposite the beautiful church and choose your little block.

Beaches and anchovies, Italy

Cetara is a small town on the Amalfi Coast, passing by the busy streets and restaurants of Sorento and Positano. Famous for anchovies, Cetara is a relaxing place to indulge in the delights of Amalfi that you don't think you need to finish spaghetti alle vongole in record time! The beach is perfectly sized, accessible and you are only a stone's throw from a restaurant. There are a variety of restaurants that serve fresh seafood, pasta and pizza. I suggested using Italian coffee for Corso Garibaldi coffee, where the owner kindly let us sit down for dinner and invited us to taste his famous five-year-old anchovy.

Located on the edge of Europe, Greece
Finikounda, at the southwestern tip of the Peloponnese, is literally on the edge of Europe. A nice 90 minute bus ride south of Kalamata is a peaceful and authentic village with more Greeks than British tourists. Its main gravel road is adjacent to the curve of the blue flag beach, with several sea side pubs. Watch the moon rise over the bay while savoring delicious casual Greek cuisine and local strong wines for half the price you pay on the islands. The sporadic traffic links will soon create considerable joy, which is the joy that is right there.

Fabadas and the fishing village, Asturias

The fishing villages along the rugged Cantabrian coast are worth the effort to get there. One of the most spectacular is the Lastres. Get off a bus at the top of the village and fall on cool, sloping roads. At Restaurante Marbella on Calle Corea, it's worth the wait for a rooftop terrace that juts out from behind, with mountains and the sea stretching out on either side. A hearty fabada (Asturian bean stew) and a bottle of sidra are perfect to share. The compact sandy beach at the bottom of town is the perfect place for an afternoon nap as the sun sets over the hills.

Mountain hut, Slovenia

With three sides dominated by the Julian Alps and a steep mountain path that offers a unique path, Drežnica is not the place where a lot of stumbles. Relax, a new, brightly colored holiday home with warm wood chips and modern amenities is somehow perfectly suited to the mountain ridge. Italians are famous for their hospitality, and our wonderful owners have brought us fresh cow's milk and a delicious dessert. Easy access to Slap Kozjak, where the water flows 50 m towards the emerald green Soca river. And the culinary paradise of Kobarid is only 8 km away.

Tranquil wildlife haven, Lithuania

Nida is the last of the four old fishing villages on the island of Curonia - a thin strip of land in Lithuania with one side on the Baltic Sea and one side on the Curonia lagoon. During most of the year, it was a haven of peace for fishermen, visiting artists and many animals that spit in saliva (all are nature reserves). In summer, it gets crowded when tourists visit the sandy beaches, electronic music and jazz festivals and boat races. Ferries and environmental charges for a car with passengers of around € 30.

Torture pirates, Majorca
Far from the beautiful 6 km beach of Alcúdia, there are two sandy bays - Mal Pas and Sillillot; As the water is considered to be the most obvious on the island, these are ideal places for diving. Or you can continue through the fragrant pine forests to the peaceful Ermita de la Victoria. But for the best view of the island, follow the hidden rear gateway to Mirador de Penya del Migdia. There are chains on the most difficult parts of the way, while the background is only Med blue. Spring is perfect because autumn can rain - less than ideal for walking along the cliffs. I don't know how they get the cannon at the top!

Fairy chimneys, French Pyrenees

Forty minutes by car from the mainland from Argelès in France Lau Côte Vermeille, at the foot of the Pyrenees, in Ille-sur-Têt and Les Orgues. Free parking and a € 5 ticket provide access to winding railways. It's easy to walk for 15 minutes, enhanced by original metal sculptures, before heading to the main event: beautiful rocks, things like that can be seen inside. outside the United States or Turkey. The Organs translated as organ pipe, which best describes these extraordinary structures of sand and clay; Children may like other fairy chimneys. Drink water if you are visiting in the summer and enjoy refreshing drinks at the cafe below. A small gift shop selling honey and other handicrafts.
